One Week Before
Communicate
Send the Parent Letter home. Confirm your organization’s repellent policy. Brief all staff on tick removal protocol.
Morning Of
Prepare
Confirm students are dressed for defense. Pack fine-tipped tweezers and a sealed bag in your first aid kit. Review the Educator Fact Sheet.
On the Trail
Stay Aware
Keep students on the center of the trail. Run a Buddy Check during water breaks. Brush off any unattached ticks immediately.
End of Day
Check In
Remind students to perform the Trail Ready Tick Check and shower promptly. Notify parents of any tick encounters during the activity.
