Trail Ready Solutions was founded by two Minnesotans who know the outdoors the way most people know their own living rooms.
Deb Vosejpka is an avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast who has spent much of her life with her hands in the soil and her boots on the trail. Alan Svoboda is a passionate hunter who has logged countless hours in the field across Minnesota’s forests and wetlands each season. Both live in wooded areas, and both understand firsthand that nature does not come without its hazards.
The Story Behind the Kit
Trail Ready Solutions was born from real experiences, like the kind that make you stop and think, “there has to be a better way.”
The idea started with Deb. She discovered a tick in a location that was, to put it diplomatically, difficult to reach on her own. It raised an immediate and very practical question: how do people without a significant other or an extremely close friend nearby handle this situation? Most people do not want to make a special trip to an urgent care clinic or schedule a doctor’s visit for something that, with the right tools, can be managed safely and confidently at home.
That question stayed with her … especially because it was not her first encounter with the real cost of being unprepared. Years earlier, Deb had been bitten by a tick and called the health line for guidance. She was told to go straight to the emergency room. She went. By the time she arrived, she had unknowingly already removed all of the tick herself. The technicians could not find a trace of it. The visit was thorough, the staff was professional — and the bill was significant. It was a costly lesson in what happens when people do not have the knowledge or the tools to handle a tick bite on their own terms.
When Deb brought the idea to Alan, he immediately understood. As a hunter, he encounters ticks regularly throughout the season, it comes with the territory of spending long days in the brush and the woods. But it was his experience as a father that truly resonated. Anyone who has tried to remove a tick from a young child knows how challenging it can be. Children are squirmy, the ticks are tiny, and the stakes feel high. Having the right tools makes all the difference between a calm, confident removal and a stressful ordeal for everyone involved.
Together, Deb and Alan asked a straightforward question: what would it actually take to handle most tick encounters safely — at home or in the field — without a trip to the doctor?
The answer became the Trail Ready Solutions Tick Removal Kit.
What We Set Out to Solve
Deb and Alan carefully selected each item in the kit based on one standard: would it genuinely help someone identify, inspect, and safely remove a tick on their own? The result is a thoughtfully assembled, all-in-one kit that puts professional-grade tools in the hands of everyday people — whether they are gardening in the backyard, hiking a state park trail, or working deep in the woods.
The kit is designed for the person who lives alone and needs to check their own back. For the parent who needs to keep a squirming child still long enough to safely remove a tick from their scalp. For the hunter who finds a tick attached at the end of a long day in the field. For the field crew that cannot afford a trip to urgent care every time someone finds a tick.
